I have four beautiful daughters and currently one grandson. I have been a stay at home mom for over 20 years and home schooled my girls for many of those years. I have always enjoyed helping others and working with moms and children in some way. It wasn't until recently that I discovered my passion for helping women with birth and the postpartum time.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Indiana University. I have worked in daycare and been an in-home nanny. I have volunteered as a Stephen Minister and an Elizabeth Minister listening and providing support to women in difficult life situations. I have worked as a birth assistant for a home birth Midwife for over three years. I was employed part-time as a birth doula in a local hospital for 2 years as well as started Best Beginnings Doula Services. I am DONA certified, Spinning Babies trained and certified as a Hypnobabies Doula.
I recently completed my certification as a Lactation Counselor.
I have been CPR and NRP certified as well as have training in aromatherapy and acupressure.
Every woman, every birth, every baby is unique and deserves care based on those special qualities and needs.
The more someone knows, the more confident they can be in the choices they make; especially when things don't go as "planned".
I am continually learning new things to best help my clients navigate pregnancy, birth and postpartum times.
I believe that every family should have the option of having a doula for both birth and postpartum. I offer discounted rates for those in special circumstances. Contact me for more info.
