Meet Carli Melentine, owner of Willowtree Doula Services. For the past 4 years, Carli and I have had each other's backs for our birth clients, stepping in to cover a birth when more that one client is in labor at a time. Carli has been my mentor and my friend and is always available to talk birth and babies with me over a cup of coffee, or tea in my case. She is caring, compassionate and level headed under pressure. Just what you want when a labor doesn't go as planned. She has a heart for not only birth work, but for helping others in general. When her schedule allows, she does missionary work with families in Kenya and works with teen girls at her local church.
Carli has a way of making you feel comfortable, like you're talking to an old friend, even if you just met her. She's a good listener and asks the right questions to build your confidence to trust that if she doesn't know the answer, she will find one for you. Even though we have separate businesses, there's no competition between us. Because we have similar views on birth, we offer similar support, but we have different strengths. This allows us to work well together, but still be happy to recommend each other to a client to best support a mom.
We are both always striving to learn new ways to better serve our clients by adding trainings and certifications to our practices. When it comes to pregnancy, birth and postpartum, we know there is always something more to learn. We are happy to share our knowledge and sometimes learn something new in return with other doulas in the community. We seek out new doulas to mentor and help get started in their own businesses and sometimes, they become another level of like-minded back up for us if we ever need it.
